Queensday

The last weeks I've been busy developing and building the first prototype of the Vrijwiel City.
Just in time for Queen's day I've finished it. Monday night and Tuesday during the day I will be standing on the Plompentorengracht in Utrecht with it. There you will be able to guess the weight of it. The person who has it right wins the bike!
You can make a guess once you have purchased one of the limited edition design key-rings that I've produced from leftovers of the original prototype.
As soon as the "one-hundred-player-mark" has been reached, the bike goes to the person who's guess is closest to the original weight. So from that point on, the bike will get a new owner anyway!
Need a new bike? Want a fancy one-of-it's-kind-bike? Come to Utrecht on Queen's day!

You can't come to Utrecht? Don't worry, if I can see a demand in the feedback I will take it into production.

The winner will be named on this blog.

been busy with things...

I've been busy doing things. First, we went to the bakfietstreffen in Nijmegen. It was great fun cycling with the Vrijwiel again. We had a good time and met a lot of nice people there. Thanks to Jos Sluijsmans for organizing everything, Hans en Mirjam Kooijman for the warm welcome and the nice evenings in the kitchen and to Theo van Goor for a good chat about bikes.

Back in the workshop there was this plug for the cardboard project. After standing in the way for more than a week I could finally sand the bottom, put a layer of polyester and glass on it and finish it with the first layer of gel coat. more layers are necessary, but also a little bit of progress lifts my mood.

Furthermore I've started the built of a new prototype-Vrijwiel-family-member.
Velomobiles are quite a specific thing to ride, but because I'd also like to give "normal" people a chance to enjoy riding a Vrijwiel, I've decided to make a "normal" bike. It's not operational yet, I still have to sand it, oil it and assemble it properly, but you can get an idea from the pictures.
Like it? Don't like it? Who cares? Let me know!
